To tackle fly-tipping and other waste crime, the Government has laid statutory instruments to allow local authorities to increase penalties for offences to act as a greater deterrence

To raise the level of fines from the current level of £400 for fly-tipping and £150 for littering with a reduction for early repayment. For fly tipping this will be a maximum fine of £1000 with a reduction for early repayment to £500 if paid within 14 days. For littering this would be raising the level to £250 with a reduction for early repayment to £150 if paid within 14 days
