As part of its Climate Action Plan, LB Merton
has made a commitment to decarbonise the Council’s vehicle
fleet (including the waste collection fleet) by 2030. A
Decarbonisation Strategy for the Council’s vehicle fleet has
now been developed. This work has encompassed the council’s
operational fleet and vehicles employed by key procured services
such as recycling and waste collection. This report seeks Cabinet
approval for the identified approach to the Fleet Decarbonisation
Strategy, including procurement of replacement vehicles and
preparation for capital works for the infrastructure
required.
